Kharrazi to attend Afghan power transfer ceremony in Kabul

 
     
 

      Kabul, Dec 20, IRNA -- Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Seyed Kamal Kharrazi is scheduled to attend an official power transfer ceremony in Kabul, Saturday, announced the Iranian Foreign Ministry Public Relations Wednesday.
      Kharrazi and his high ranking accompanying delegation, comprised of a number of parliament members and deputy ministers will be the guests of the first interim head of the temporary Afghan government Hamed Kerzai.
      Karzai extended the invitation for the Iranian authorities during a surprise visit from the Embassy of the I. R. Iran in Kabul a few days ago.
A spokesman of the Iranian embassy in kabul told IRNA Wednesday evening that Kharrazi is scheduled to meet a number of the ministers of the interim government besides Karzai.
      The new Afghan government will officially start its work as of Saturday December 22 after the above mentioned ceremony.
      Delegations from 24 countries are scheduled to attend the Afghan power transfer ceremony.
      Based on another report, Iran's Mahan Air aviation agency will launch its fist Tehran-Kabul flight Friday morning.
      Iran was the first country to re-open its embassy in Kabul soon after the Taliban fled from that city.
