Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami on Monday extended felicitations to all Christians throughout the world, particularly Iranian citizens, on the birthday of Jesus Christ (PBUH).
Describing Jesus Christ as the messenger of peace, justice and friendship, the president said, "I extend felicitations to all followers of Christianity around the world, especially the noble Iranian Christians. Jesus Christ (PBUH) is the messenger of amity and affection, freedom and justice.
"The contemporary world suffering from violence, discrimination, and desperation is in dire need of the lofty aspiration of Jesus Christ and other messengers," President Khatami said.
He called for solidarity between Islam and Christianity to save humanity from violence and destruction and promote peace and security.
The president hoped that new horizons will open in human community to boost coexistence and morality and put an end to discrimination, extortion and disrespect to each other.
