Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA -- Iran follows the policy of cooperation with American groups, including academics, the elite and influential non-governmental bodies, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here on Monday.
Asefi told a weekly press briefing that such a policy was in force in the past and the lectures delivered (by Iranian scholars) thus far in the United States are in that line.
He said Tehran has been trying to enlighten the US public opinion on the realities in Iran because they are under influence of the worst kind of "negative and one-sided" propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
He added that it is natural for permanent envoy of Iran to the U.N. to hold talks with non-governmental bodies, academics and the elite in the US and this is not something new.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Asefi said the seminar of Iranian ambassadors abroad, held in Tehran last week, had been successful since the participants found the opportunity to meet the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He said the Leader's clear-cut and transparent guidelines and analysis of the ongoing global conditions would definitely be of great help for the Iranian diplomats.
He added that variety of topics were raised at the meeting of the ambassadors, where other officials were also present.
