Tehran, Aug 25, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Iran opposes the idea of deploying foreign troops, including US forces, in the Persian Gulf, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said here on Saturday.
He said he believes that foreign troops are in the region for their own interests and pursue their own goals which do not complement the interests of Iran or other states in the region.
Commenting on relations with EU countries, the minister expressed the hope that an Iranian-EU dialogue on economic cooperation will lead to the signing of corresponding agreements.
He noted that Tehran has achieved progress in talks held so far due to the government's foreign policy.
