| Tehran, Oct 24, IRNA -- Iran on Thursday expressed regret over the current hostage drama in Russia, in which Chechen guerrillas are holding more than 700 people in a Moscow theater hall. Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said "such acts and (similar) acts of violence as well as resorting to force are rejected" and hoped the event would be settled "as soon as possible without the lives of innocent people being put in danger". The hostage drama began late Wednesday, with Chechen separatist commandos threatening to blow up the theater hall if Russia did not withdraw its troops from revolting enclave in North Caucasus. |
