Gorgan, Golestan prov, Aug 21, IRNA -- Government Spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh said here Wednesday that the situation would have been very dissatisfactory had President Khatami fallen in the trap stretched by war-mongers. Speaking in a ceremony to mark the memory of 40 martyrs in the Shahkoui Sofla village, Gorgan, Ramezanzadeh added that President Khatami has opted for peaceful means to deal with the problems while adding that this was a path chosen also by the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini. The path chosen by the president is a source of honor and pride for the Iranian nation, he stated and added that launching wars and conflicts could not solve problems. He directed strong criticisms against those war-mongers who have in some occasions tried to give rise to tensions created by enemies. He pointed out that the policies and measures adopted by President Khatami have contributed to creation of a good image of Iran on the international scene and said if some had stopped creating problems in the way of the Khatami Administration the situation would have been much better. He said efforts should contribute to present a calm and peaceful image of the country to the international community. He commented on the investment by foreign investor and said the investment risk rates have decreased to 6 from 4 and this is a real achievement. He commented on the problems facing the people and in particular said much bigger budget is needed to remove the unemployment problem. He said unemployment as an economic and social malady should be dealt with through effective mechanisms. Studies by Iran's Statistics Organization showed that the youth account for 70 percent of the whole population. Though one out of every 10 jobless Iranians holds a university degree, 29.6 percent are high school graduates, 40.8 percent hold primary and secondary school degrees and 6.9 percent are virtually illiterate. |
