        Tehran, Aug 22, IRNA -- Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said the government's foreign policy is aimed at securing the country's interest, security and ideals.
        Addressing the annual seminar of diplomatic and consular officials here Wednesday, he talked about the need to introduce the Iranian religious democratic system to the international community. 
        In his speech, Kharrazi referred to conviction, courage, speed, professionalism, initiative, knowledge as the various diplomatic tools possessed by Iranian diplomats.
        He also underlined to his audience the importance of being skilled in political psychology which, he said, is the ability to assess and respond to events in a most effective way.
        Kharrazi, who elaborated on the various aspects of diplomacy and the policies of the ministry which he heads, described the annual meeting of the country's diplomatic corps as "positive."
        He said the ministry's foreign policies stress the fact that both political and cultural diplomacy are complementary tools in the task of boosting the country's image abroad.
        He also stressed the important role played by cultural activities in enhancing Iran's credibility in the international arena.
        Pointing to the inter-dependence of a country's foreign affairs and its economic policies, he said Iranian representative offices abroad can serve the country effectively by broadening its economic ties with other countries.
        He pointed to the growing popularity of the Persian language, literature, gnostics and Islamic jurisprudence worldwide, and called for more services to Iranian residents abroad in order to defend their rights and continue their intellectual and cultural pursuits.
