Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the sensitive situation in the region requires the Iranian nation to make itself stronger and invulnerable.
The Supreme Leader said in his address to the personnel of the ground forces of Army of the Islamic Republic that Iranian armed forces repelled the aggression of the enemy which enjoyed support from the world powers during its eight years imposed war on Iran and forced it admit defeat.
The armed forces did not allow the enemy to violate Iranian territorial integrity so that for the first time during the last two centuries iranian borders remained safe, the Leader pointed out.
The Leader said that the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Basij (volunteer forces) are strong enough to repulse any threat to national sovereignty.
"The world powers are escalating war in this sensitive region for oil and securing their illegitimate interests in the name of campaign for freedom and the human rights. The nations in the region should keep vigilant and work hard to defend themselves." the Supreme Leader said.
The Supreme Leader said that the Afghan and Iraqi nations are the victims of the world arrogance's greed and called for safeguarding national identity to heal the wounds the big powers inflict on the nations in short run.
Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces reviewed the parade of the elite troops of the ground forces and paid tribute to the martyrs of the sacred defense.
Elsewhere in his address, the Supreme Leader said that military preparedness and paying due attention to the economic problems form the requirement of invulnerability.
In the meantime, the Supreme Leader visited the exhibit of the military equipment including armoured vehicles, personnel carriers, tanks and unmanned aircraft.
