Tehran, Nov 16, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami stressed here Saturday on the need for diplomatic, moral and spiritual deafens of the rights of the Palestinian people.
Meeting the Board of Trustees of the Association for the Defense of Palestinian Nation, he added those who presuppose that on the principals of defending the Palestinians' rights there is a divergence of views between the Iranian government and the people "are gravely mistaken."
He also referred to the Palestinian issue "as a token of humanity's moral decadence."
Negation of the existence of a people while creating another bogus nation through violence, aggression while driving support of powerful countries is a dangerous trend, the Iranian president underscored.
"We see it as our responsibility to announce such truth to the humanity," he remarked.
"Iran has been under the severest of pressures to revise its stance on the Palestinian issue," Khatami underlined.
"Humanity, Islamism and morality oblige us not to ignore this right," Khatami said adding that if the powerful, by relying on might, reject the right of the Palestinians, all other nations should affirm such rights.
He further said that all the freedom-loving nations of the world defend the Palestinian rights and "urged the people-based organizations and international bodies to become more active in defending those rights."
