Faridzadeh, Aznar discuss Khatami's October visit to Spain |

| Madrid, July 19, IRNA -- Senior presidential advisor Mohammad-Javad Faridzadeh and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar here on Thursday held talks on the upcoming visit to Spain of President Mohammad Khatami. According to official Spanish government sources Faridzadeh and Aznar exchanged views on the framework and content of the visit. Spanish officials say the visit is expected to take place in October at the invitation of Spanish King Juan Carlos and in response to the visit to Iran by Aznar in Fall 2000. Aznar had during his visit to Iran issued joined declaration with Khatami. The two sides at the meeting announced their willingness to expand ties in different fields and voiced interest to expand mutual cooperation in the economic, cultural, scientific, commercial, tourism, fishing, engineering, agricultural and petrochemical fields. Aznar had vowed in the statement to strive for promotion of ties between Tehran and the European Union (EU). |
