Tehran, June 17, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi here on Monday announced that German charge d'affaires to Tehran had been summoned to the Foreign Ministry in protest at reported cases of fingerprinting of Iranian nationals in Germany.
He told reporters that the German charge d'affaires, summoned to the Foreign Ministry in the absence of the country's ambassador, was informed of the consequences of such acts by the German government.
He stressed that his ministry will do all within its power to protect the dignity of the Iranian nationals and the Islamic Republic's interests.
He reiterated that the move by the German government is not exclusively for the Iranian nationals but it includes nationals of over 20 different countries.
"The Foreign Ministry will continue its investigation into the case and will take appropriate measures in that regard," Asefi said.
Terming the upcoming visit to Iran of Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer as "very important", Asefi said his two-day visit, starting on Monday, will open a new chapter in Tehran-Ankara friendly relations. The complicated situation of the region is in need of more consultations among the regional states, he added.
Both Iran and Turkey, as two neighboring states enjoy common interests and concerns, he said and praised great potentials in both countries for expansion of bilateral cooperation in all areas.
The Turkish president will discuss ways of developing bilateral economic, cultural and parliamentary relations as well as the latest regional and international developments with senior Iranian officials, Asefi said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said establishment of a "security wall" by the Zionist regime is an "unacceptable measure" and stressed that the move is taken in order to exert more pressure on the Palestinian nation.
The move is against all international norms, he said reiterating that the move will damage the integrity of Beit-ul-Moqaddas.
Indifferent attitude of the United States and other influential countries towards crimes being committed by Tel Aviv have encouraged the Zionist regime to further violate the rights of the Palestinian nation and to ignore the international rules and regulations, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed.
The move by the Zionist regime which is taking place under the unfounded pretext of confrontation with terrorism, is not at all accepted by international communities, he said urging all influential countries to counter such moves.
Welcoming the result of the meeting of the Afghan tribal council, the Loya Jirga, Asefi said the meeting was an indication of the political maturity of the Afghan people.
He expressed the hope that the council will successfully carry out its heavy responsibilities.
