Tehran, July 17, IRNA -- Government spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh here on Wednesday stressed the government's view that the Iranian people will not waver in their positions in the face of threats from individuals.
Speaking at the weekly press briefing, Ramezanzadeh commented on recent remarks by the US president George Bush and said, "The internal affairs of Iran is its own business and only the Iranian people will decide on it."
He expressed hope that the Americans will be more prudent and wise to 'return to the previous correct path with Iran which they suddenly terminated'.
As the Iranian president has said the on numerous occasions that Iran-US relations suffers from a fundamental issue which is 'a high wall of mistrust', said Ramezanzadeh, adding, the onus lies with the Americans to remove the wall of mistrust.
Americans took some positive steps which were stopped and which could have offered practical solutions to the impediments in the way of improved relations between the two countries.
He also denied that there have been messages from American officials to Iranian leaders, adding, "So far no message has been received by Iran."
