Tehran, Feb 17, IRNA -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that the Iranian nation indicated on February 11 nationwide rallies that they will not retreat from their revolutionary and Islamic principles.
In a meeting with Azarbaijani people to mark anniversary of their anti-Shah protests in 1979, the Supreme Leader said that Iranian nation achieved independence with victory of the 1979 Islamic
Revolution and will safeguard independence though it provokes the ire of the big powers.
"This year, the US officials once again wished to see that the Iranian nation will forget the anniversary of their Islamic Revolution. But the people took to the streets on February 11 conveying the message that the Iranian nation will never allow the plunderers and those disguised as civilized people to dominate Iran once again," the Leader said.
The Leader said that the Iranian nation is proud of their faithful and brave youth who will carry the flag of the Islamic Revolution for next generations.
"Iranian youth are the best in the world. I believe in the youth with my full heart and believe that they will undertake their historical duty by passing the hardest possible examinations,"
"My dear youth, the country belongs to you. Now, it's your turn to enter into the scene by empowering yourself scientifically, spiritually and ethically and take the flag from your fathers and others who made the greatest sacrifices during the ups and downs of of the Islamic Revolution," the Supreme Leader said.
The Leader appreciated the sacrifices made by people of Tabriz and Azarbaijan province during the Islamic Revolution and paid tribute to the two Azari religious leaders Ayatollah Qazi Tabatabaei and Ayatollah Madani who were martyred by terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO).
Elsewhere in his speech, the Supreme Leader said that the US administration once again proved that they don't believe in human rights, democracy and humanitarian values. They have disclosed a plan to install an American as the ruler for Iraq and channel all the Iraqi resources into the pockets of the American and Zionist companies.
Such a plan of course will not be materialized, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The US has also planned to change the political map of the Middle East, the Leader said adding that even though the US might get control of Iraq in short term, but, ultimately, the Iraqi nation will drive the Americans out of their country.
