| Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA -- Iran on Monday reiterated its rejection of links to an anti-American Iraqi group as it announced arresting a suspected leader detained recently in Amsterdam on suspicion of collaboration with al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi identified the suspect as Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad, a Norwegian, saying he was recently arrested in Tehran and sent back to his country. "This person, who holds Norwegian nationality, is suspected of collaboration with extremist groups. He entered Tehran recently from Europe and was immediately arrested and returned to his respective country," he said. The Islamic Republic, Asefi added, has already notified "several" European countries of the arrest and return of the suspect. Dutch media recently said the country's police had arrested a Kurdish leader, identified as Mullah Krekar, 46, on his way from Iran to Norway. |
