Tehran, Aug 14, IRNA -- Government spokesman Abdullah Ramezanzadeh said here on Wednesday that American statesmen are wise enough not to think about attacking Iran.
Asked on delivery of 16 al-Qaeda fighters to Saudi Arabia by Iran, Ramezanzadeh said that Iran had already announced that a number of foreign nationals, crossing into its border with Afghanistan, have been arrested.
He said the 16 foreign nationals are from Europe, Arab states and Africa. This special case has no special importance in Iran's view, he added.
"Any foreign national illegally crossing into Iranian territory from Afghanistan would be arrested and definitely delivered to the country of their origin," he said.
Ramezanzadeh confirmed the interrogation of the arrested individuals but declined to reveal the outcome of the interrogation.
"In this case (delivery of al-Qaeda forces) we have had no special link with the US government," he said.
Asked whether Iran would stage any military maneuver in the Caspian Sea, Ramezanzadeh said no decision has so far been taken in that connection.
