Iraqi border with Iran will always remain safe, Shamkhani says

Tehran, Sept 11, IRNA -- Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said on Wednesday that Iraqi  border with Iran will always remain safe, if the US launches military action against Iraq.
He told reporters at the end of a cabinet meeting that Iran opposes any military action against Iraq in line with Iran-Iraq relations, regional and international considerations, and even if Iraqi sovereignty (be) weakened, the Iraqi border-line with Iran will never change.

He said that Fateh-110 surface-to-surface missile is one hundred percent Iranian made with solid-fuel, 200-km range and high tactical capability to the extent that it doesn't need updating at least for seven years.
He said that Iranian armed forces are in full command of the situation on the eastern borders and the people in the region are in total solidarity with the government.
Shamkhani refuted as 'mistake' the US officials' action to approach the bandits in the eastern border areas to create trouble for the Iranian government and termed it as contrary to the democratic principles advocated by the White House.
"How do you call the others terrorists, while you are making overtures to collaborate with the bandits whose hands are stained with bloods of the innocent people?" Shamkhani asked the US officials.
