Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that integration of religion and politics is the strong point of the Islamic Republic.
The Leader said in his address to members of the Assembly of Experts that colonialist powers had always advocated separation of religion from politics adding that under the former regime, Iran experienced the secular form of government which brought wide-scale ethical corruption.
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iranian nation has established the religious-oriented government which, thanks God, has brought enormous social, political and administrative blessings so that the Iranian nation will never substitute their religious administration with a secular one. the Supreme Leader said.
The Leader said that differences of views is something acceptable in the community, but, made it clear that freedom of expression should not challenge the constitutional provisions that emphasized the religious nature of the Islamic Republic.
The Supreme Leader said that the religious aspect of the Islamic Republic has driven the enemies to isolation.
Elaborating on the blessings of religious sentiments in the Middle East, the Supreme Leader said that the Palestinians' religious sentiments have driven the Zionist regime and the United States to a deadlock.
The Leader said that young Iranian Muslims, by upholding Islamic teachings, have led the arrogant powers to desperation so that they are anxious about the impacts of the Islamic Revolution among the Muslim nations throughout the world.
Prior to the Leader's remarks, Chairman of the 86-member Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Ali Meshkini presented a report on the two-day meeting of the constitutional body.
86 members of the Third Assembly who have been elected through national elections to October 23, 1998 are empowered to monitor performance of Vali-e-Faqih (Supreme Jurisprudent).
The Assembly holds regular meetings twice a year and gives recommendations to the Office of the Supreme Leader.
