New York, Sept 11, IRNA -- Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi here on Tuesday called on the world's clergy to avail of "dialogue among religions" as a means of avoiding crises and threats to the human civilization.
In a meeting here with representatives of divine faiths ahead of the UN General Assembly's 57th annual session, Kharrazi pointed to the peaceful co-existence and understanding among Muslims, Christians and Jews in many parts of the world.
"Many differences existing among followers of divine faiths, including anti-Semitism, are the results of the attitude nurtured in the West, he said.

Pointing to the misunderstandings among followers of different divine religions, Kharrazi called for dialogue to resolve such misunderstandings.
He warned of an anti-fundamentalist attitude emerging in the US characterized by increasing threats and confrontations of Muslims, and said President Khatami's initiative of "dialogue among civilizations" would be the effective means to overcome the attitude and to establish peace and friendship among peoples of various faiths and convictions.
The representatives of various divine faiths also spoke of the need for dialogue among religions to confront common threats as well as the need for cooperation and a common approach to meet the challenge posed by negative attitudes.
