Tehran, Feb 9, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said on Sunday
that Iraq's compliance with the UN Security Council resolutions is the last chance to resolve the crisis.
In a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri, he said that Iran opposes war and unilateral approach toward Iraq adding that in the past two decades, two wars have taken place in the region so the nations in the region cannot bear a new war.
Kharrazi said that full Iraqi cooperation with the UN arms inspectors would deprive the US of the pretext to wage war on Iraq.
On Iran-Iraq relations, Kharrazi called for clarification of the fate of Iranian soldiers missing in action (MiAs) and Iranian prisoners of war (PoWs) in Iraq dating back to Iraqi-imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).
Sabri said that the Iraqi government has decided to extend the best cooperation to the UN arms inspection team.
The Iraqi foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a brief visit.
