Tehran, June 10, IRNA -- The Tehran-based diplomatic corps from the 15-nation European Union (EU) on Monday reiterated EU resolve to develop multi-lateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Euro-American Affairs Ali Ahani, to mark the end of Spain's presidency over the EU, the ambassadors said that their respective governments are keen to boost cooperation with Iran.
Ahani hoped that by putting into practice the EU Council of Ministers approval to start trade talks with Iran, great strides would be made in this respect.
The ambassadors said that Iran and the EU have extensive ground for cooperation in the field of trade, economy and energy and called for taking fundamental steps to that effect.
Ahani and the EU ambassadors also exchanged views on holding the upcoming ninth 'Iran-EU Comprehensive Talks'.
With the expiry of Spain's term of EU leadership, Denmark will undertake EU presidency for the next six months from July 1.
