Tehran, Dec 8, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Common sense should prevail in the region in order to prevent an outbreak of war, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi told his Syrian counterpart Farouq al-Shara in Damascus on Sunday.
The Iranian minister is touring Syria and Lebanon to discuss the regional situation with local officials. Any decisions about the future of Iraq must come from people of that country, he noted.
Kharrazi described cooperation between Teheran, Damascus and Beirut as rather efficient.
Syria and Iran have identical positions in the Iraqi issue, al-Shara said. The United States is using the events of September 11, 2001, for mounting pressure on Iraq and providing for its supremacy in the region, he remarked.
