| Tehran, Oct 9, IRNA -- Iranian lawmakers here on Wednesday condemned the US President George W. Bush for endorsing a legislation that recognized Beit-ul-Moqaddas as the capital of the Zionist Regime of Israel, calling on Washington to nullify the approval. Some 220 Iranian parliamentarians in a statement urged international organizations including the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU), as well as the UN Security Council to condemn the US move and adopt proper measures to prevent the law from going in effect. The MPs called on the US to apologize to the world and the Palestinian nation and help restore calm in the Middle East region and other parts of the world by abandoning its hostile behavior. A law was recently signed by the US President George W. Bush, a part of which called on Washington to move its embassy in the Zionist state of Israel from Tel Aviv to Beit-ul-Moqaddas. The Iranian parliament members instructed Foreign Ministry to activate its diplomacy and enter into consultations with members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as soon as possible. They called on the Ministry to propose holding the OIC extraordinary meeting so as to arrange preliminaries for a comprehensive and coordinated movement by the international community with an aim to counter the US' "sinister" plot. The statement referred to Beit-ul-Moqaddas as a holy place shared by all divine religions, saying Bush and the US congress have, after half a century all-out support for the "illegal and tyrannical" regime of Israel, announced Beit-ul-Moqaddas as the capital of the regime, which has usurped Palestine. It said the US has through such a measure initiated a new and very dangerous move, ridiculing mankind and human rights. It said endorsement of the law by Bush was a blatant violation of the historical and absolute rights of the Palestinian people and the UN Security Council approvals, while insulting sanctities of billions of Muslim and Christian people. It said the move by the US and its president is in violation of all international conventions and regulations. |
