Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA -- In a telephone conversation, Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi and his Moroccan counterpart Mohammad Benaissa expressed concern the new US congress's bill to recognize Beit ul-Muqaddas as the Zionist regime's capital. He also called for holding the Qods Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) with the aim of reviewing the ramifications of this move and the need for making a decision on the issue. He referred to the atrocities committed by Israel in the Palestinian occupied territories, adding "the recent US moves are in line with the country's support for the Zionist regime." In case of silence on the part of the Islamic countries, the US and Israel will pose illegitimate additional demands on the Moslems and Palestinians, Kharrazi stressed. |

| Benaissa, whose country is the chairman of the OIC Qods committee oncurred with Kharrazi and pledged that Iran's request will be taken up with other committee members. Earlier on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said the signing of the bill was an example of the US actions to take advantage of the situation in the Middle East while the public attention is focused on the Iraqi crisis. While the US move to recognize Holy Qods as the capital of the Zionist regime and Ariel Sharon continues his crimes, aggression and humiliation, is it possible to expect a lasting peace in the Middle East? Kharrazi asked. He said, "Our evaluation is that the region is full of hatred toward Israel and the US bill will incite the sentiments of the Muslims in the region." Kharrazi said that the US move is in fact an affront to the sentiments of the Muslim nations. The Congress, in approving dlrs 8.6 billion authorization bill on September 26 called on the Bush administration to immediately begin shifting the US Embassy to Beit-ul-Moqaddas from Tel Aviv. Bush signed the Congressional bill on Tuesday. |
