Tehran, July 31, IRNA -- Government spokesman Abdullah Ramezanzadeh said here on Wednesday that European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana did not carry any special message for Iranian government during his visit to Tehran. Ramezanzadeh told a press conference that Solana's visit to Tehran had positive points in Iran-EU relations. Solana and Iranian officials had in their talks in Tehran exchanged candidly their views on various issues, said Ramezanzadeh. He touched on the report related to visit of the human rights rapporteurs to Iran, saying that dispatch of human rights rapporteurs is quite normal and they are sent to about 170 countries. Iran has gained good successes in the field of human rights thanks to the measures taken both inside and outside the country over the past three years, he added. Asked about the dissolution of the Freedom Movement of Iran (FMI) party and the verdicts issued against its members, Ramezanzadeh said that freedom of activity by parties and political groups within framework of the parties' law and the Constitution has always been stressed by the government. On the possible attack on Iraq and the spilling over of the likely conflict to Iran, Ramezanzadeh said, "Presently, we do not feel the threat is posed to Iran, but there has always been complete defense preparedness throughout Iran against any likely event," concluded the official. |
