Salehi: IAEA should remain independent

Salehi made the remark at a joint press conference with visiting Burundi presidential advisor in Tehran on Saturday.

There is a rumor that the IAEA intends to offer documents on Iran’s alleged involvement in a series of missiles programs and activities but such allegations are not new and the IAEA had already made similar claimed to which Iran had responded through a 117-page document known as “Alleged Studies”.

They launch a military aggression on Iraq under a similar pretext which led to the killing of thousands of innocent people but later it became evident that all the information was wrong, Salehi said.

As an independent body the IAEA should not be influenced by big powers, he said adding that such pressures are politically-motivated and lack technical credibility, he said.

Enemies are now masterminding various scenarios to put pressure on Iran, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to defend its legitimate rights on the international scene, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is not the type of countries that yield so easily, Salehi underlined.

The Islamic Republic of Iran knows how to deal with the enemies’ plots, he said.

Iran with reliance on its people has proven that the conspiracies of its enemies will not bear fruits, Salehi said.

On recent allegations made by the Zionist regime, he said there is no need to respond to such repeated and illogical comments.

In fact there is no reason to answer to unfounded and baseless allegations made by some Zionist officials, he said.

On his recent visit to Lybia, he described it as successful and said during the visit he conveyed a congratulatory message from Iran´s Supreme Leader to the Libyan nation and officials.

Libyan officials thanked Iran’s support and called for use of its invaluable experiences in various fields, Salehi said.

A new team of Iranian experts will go to Libya for mine sweeping operations in some cities and public places, he said.

He expressed the hope that ties and relations between Iran and Libya would broaden and the two sides would witness a promising future.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has sent a letter of protest to the UN secretary general to complain about various plots being hatched by the US and is to offer its relative documents in due time, he said.

End.
