“The root of these unfriendly and invalid remarks is the groundless claims by the US judiciary officials, who have not yet released any evidence to prove their claims,” Mehmanparast said.
On Tuesday, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.
Later on the same day, Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said his country would “hold Iran accountable for any action taken against us” and take a “measured response” to the alleged Iranian assassination attempt.
Iran has categorically denied the accusation, saying the recent US plot allegation is a “ludicrous” claim based on the joint US-Israel posture against the Islamic Republic.
“Existing evidence shows that one of the objectives of this baseless scenario is disrupting the relations of the Islamic Republic with its neighbors, particularly the Persian Gulf states,” Mehmanparast said.
He added that the US does not want stability and brotherly ties to be established among Islamic countries.
Mehmanparast said such US measures must be treated with caution and prudence, adding that hasty remarks on to these issues, which are aimed at disturbing the region and ruining bilateral ties, should be avoided.
Earlier on Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US administration is responsible for escalating tension and undermining international security through its propaganda campaign against Iran.
End.
