London is set to hold the second annual Iranian Film Festival in an attempt to introduce contemporary Iranian cinema to the British audience.
This year´s festival will open on November 18, 2011, and run until November 26 when winners will be announced in four categories - feature film, documentary, short film and animation.
Sponsored by the volunteer-run, non-political UKIFF, the event is the only annual festival presenting Iranian cinema in the UK.
The London Iranian Film Festival also aims to introduce Iranian cinema to new audiences, stimulating cultural diversity and fulfilling both an entertainment and educational function.
Cinema lovers can also take part in Q&A sessions, networking events and visit exhibitions, which will be held on the sidelines of the 2011 festival.
The 2nd Iranian Film Festival of London will screen award-winning productions at the city´s Apollo Cinema, Regent Street and the French Institute´s Cine Lumiere.
Asghar Farhadi´s Nader and Simin: A Separation, Majid Majidi´s Song of Sparrows and Manijeh Hekmat´s Three Women are among the films which will be screened during the 9-day event.
