Iran urges Western governments to halt bloodshed in Libya
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the issue of Libya will be resolved through collective contribution of its people away from interference of foreign countries.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has carried more than 15,000 sorties of air attacks on Libya killing at least two or three women and children in every air strike.

NATO countries say that they are enforcing the United Nations Security Council resolution which called for establishment of no-fly zone in Libya.

Observers say that the NATO practice proved the otherwise and there is alarming humanitarian crisis in Libya.

Mehmanparast said that Iran has drawn up a plan to resort to democratic means in Libya rather than NATO bombardment of the Libyan people.

He told reporters in his weekly press briefing that Iran is currently negotiating with other countries about the plan.

On suppression of people in Bahrain, he said “We believe that violence and suppression of people in Bahrain and Libya will bear no fruit.”

He expressed the hope that the Bahraini officials in the region would find the right path in dealing with their people’s demand and help prepare the ground for restoration of stability in the region.

On presence of terrorist groups in Iraq, he advised the Iraqi officials to halt activities of terrorist groups in the country.

On current developments in Syria, he said the US and the Zionist regime are against restoration of calm in the country.

End.
