Tips on Visa

Important points the applicants should know to get a visa to enter the I. R. of Iran

· Visa: Visa is a special permit which is granted to foreign nationals by the officials of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran abroad, police authorities or offices of Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the entry points to Iran.

1- Those who are recognized as Iranian nationals according to the laws of I. R. of Iran and have a non-Iranian passport, will not be issued a visa. They must travel to Iran on their Iranian passport.

2- Those Iranians who, according to the laws of the I.R. of Iran, have abandoned their Iranian nationality can travel to Iran after providing the relevant documents confirming that they have abandoned their nationality and then apply for a visa.

3- Iranian nationals do not need a visa to travel to Turkey, Syria, Georgia, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

4- Nationals of Turkey, Syria, Georgia and Azerbaijan do not need a visa to travel to Iran.

5- Nationals of all countries (except America, Britain, Canada, Colombia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Jordan and Somali) can be granted a 15-day-tourist visa at international airports in Iran (Imam Khomeini International Airport, Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz, Kish, Gheshm and Chabahar). The government of the I. R. of Iran will not be liable if the visa request is rejected.

· Those who have been rejected to receive a visa to travel to the I. R. of Iran can not apply for the airport tourist visa.

· According to the I. R. of Iran’s laws, extension of this kind of visa will be processed by the police authorities in Iran.

6- Foreign nationals who have entered the I. R. of Iran on a tourist visa and intend to study or work in Iran can travel to the Kish Island and apply for a study or work visa instead of leaving Iran and then enter the main land.

7- Foreign nationals who overstay their visa validity period will be treated according to relevant laws and also should pay 30,000 rials, (roughly 17 to 19 pounds) daily.

8- Issuing a visa to the children of foreign nationality under the age of 18 whose mother is Iranian can be processed at the consulate section with their fathers’ written consent. The children travelling with their mothers to Iran, in case of their parents divorce or the impossibility for the father to go to the consulate, a power of attorney delivered by father to the mother indicating her right to apply for a visa or a certificate by the court showing the mother’s custody of the child is required.

· Visa issuance for above-mentioned applicants will be processed by the missions of the Islamic Republic of Iran abroad.

9- From 20 February 2010, based on a reciprocal action, all British nationals applying for a visa to enter Iran should be finger printed.

· British nationals who have been finger printed once, are not required to do so for further visa requests.

10- Those applicants who have nobody in Iran to invite them can complete and send their visa request through the link: www.evisa.mfa.gov.ir and receive the reference number. Then they need a confirmed hotel booking to submit the reservation form along with other documents at the consulate section of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London.

11- After receiving the visa, the applicant should review the details and dates and if there was anything wrong, inform the consulate officer to correct it.

12- To facilitate the process of visa issuance, visa authorization can be obtained through the following travel agencies.

- Facts Travel Tel: 0207 6031246
