Germany for constructive talks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program

Iran-Germany-Honosowitz
German Ambassador to Tehran Herbert Honosowitz on Tuesday stressed continued constructive talks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Honosowitz made the remark in a meeting with head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi here on Tuesday.

Boroujerdi said for his part that the only solution to ongoing disputes between Iran and Europe on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program is continued talks on the basis of previous agreements.

Calling US pressures on Europe ’illogical’, Boroujerdi said the US does not wish to see the talks between Iran and Europe on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear activities come to a desirable and positive conclusion, therefore through such hasty measures as sanctions the Americans intend to derail the process of talks.

He referred to the US efforts to issue a resolution for adoption of sanctions against Iran and said, "Adoption of a resolution for sanctions will solve no problem of the West."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to reach understanding on the basis of international regulations and commitments. Europe should resist the US’ illogical pressures and continue talks with a positive approach."
He said Iran’s proposal for formation of a joint consortium with Europe in connection with its peaceful nuclear activities will serve as an opportunity, which ’should not be spoiled because it will meet interests of both sides’.

The lawmaker called for Tehran-Berlin cooperation on regional level, especially in the case of Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and other regional states.

The German diplomat welcomed Boroujerdi’s suggestion for mutual cooperation at the regional level.
