Blair rejects nuclear comparisons between UK, NKorea

UK-N. Korea-Blair
British Prime Minister Tony Blair Tuesday rejected as ’completely false’ comparisons between North Korea’ nuclear capability and that of the UK and its Western allies.

Speaking at a joint news conference in London with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh, Blair accused Pyongyang of ’clear breach’ of its international obligations.

The test-firing of a nuclear weapon by North Korea was a ’very, very serious’ development. "It is a very, very serious situation. We are discussing it with key allies," he said.

Blair welcomed the ’strong stand’ taken by China on the issue and urged North Korea to return to international talks aimed at resolving the issue of its nuclear weapons programme.

"The only way of dealing with it is through a revitalization of the Six Party talks and to make sure North Korea comes back into compliance with its international obligations," the British premier told reporters.
