MPs call for severance of economic ties with Denmark

Iran-Denmark-Majlis
Some 232 Majlis deputies, in a letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on Tuesday called for breaking off economic relations with Denmark.

The letter was read by Moussa Qorbani, a member of Majlis presiding board during this morning open session of the legislative body.

Referring to the brazen move of Denmark’s national TV in repeating the blasphemous acts against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which triggered the anger of the Muslim world, the letter regretted that the insult was repeated by Denmark Television.

Denmark’s national TV2 channel on Friday broadcast excerpts from a video lampooning Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Since such a move is not tolerable, the Majlis deputies propose severance of the two countries economic relations and even cutting off of bilateral diplomatic ties in case of repetition, the letter said.

The Danish press earlier this year published blasphemous cartoons against the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which sparked worldwide protests and condemnation.
