CALL FOR PAPERS

With Divine assistance, the Islamic Republic of Iran's National Conference on Biotechnology will be held in late February 2000.

Specialized areas:

1. Agriculture and national (re)sources

2. Medical practice and pharmacy

3. Industry and mines

4. Livestock and marine life

5. The environment

6. Molecular biology

7. Bio-IT

8. Quality control and biotechnological standard

9. Legal and ethical aspects of biotechnology

Aims:

1. To familiarize society and policy-makers with biotechnology

2. To present the results of research projects in biotechnology

3. To study the role of biotechnology in development and economy in the absence of oil

4. To consider the obstacles to progress in biotechnology

5. To review the participation of the private sector in the development of biotechnology

6. To become familiar with biotechnological capabilities in the country
